The Beginning
Within days after the devastating magnitude 7.9 Nepal earthquake that happened on Saturday, 25th April 2015, the plight of the affected Nepalese moved a concerned malaysian (the founder of 10,000 Hearts Organisation) to act and took a flight to Katmandu. As arranged, a local picked him up, drove him to a monastery where he was briefed on the situations of the surrounding remote villages and then with a few guides made a few trips to the earthquake devastated remote places to survey and assess the immediate and longer term needs of the sufferers.
The founder coordinating from Nepal with a small group of like-minded Malaysian at home via Whatsapp, they banded together to pool their financial resources and manpower to procure temporary shelters and distributed the provision of foods, drinking water and clothing but the dawning of the cold months ahead have raised the concern of keeping the earthquake victims warm in the coming winter months. Consequentially, in a brief and swift series of Whatsapp message exchanges the first 10,000 Hearts project - 10,000 Blanket of Love for Nepal was launched, hence the birth of this website 10000hearts.org
